Pärnu Muuseum
12.00 €

Exhibition/Art
Introduction

This summer, the Pärnu Museum in cooperation with Alexandre Vassiliev Foundation is opening the doors to the resort world, showing one era of fashion after another – crinolines to bustles, bustles to form-fitting garments without corsets, long and heavy dresses to the revolutionary minidress. We provide the opportunity of viewing these changes through various eras and events: the industrial revolution, the technological development of cinematography, the global economic crisis, the world wars, and the sexual revolution of the 1960s. In addition, some very rare men’s and children’s costumes are on display.

The exhibition is made up of 110 costumes, 272 accessories, and portraits from various eras, covering a period from the 1850s to the 2000s This exhibition, owned by the Alexandre Vassiliev Foundation, is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, and Alexandre Vassiliev himself is one of the most outstanding fashion collectors in the world. This is the first time a collection like this is presented in Estonia – and what could be a better place to do this than the historical resort town of Pärnu?
