Kertu Rannula, Rebeca Žukovitš ”Dialogues of Digital Girls”
Introduction
On Thursday, September 3, at 6 PM, an exhibition “Dialogues of Digital Girls” by Kertu Rannula and Rebeca Žukovitš will open at the Project Space of Pärnu City Gallery.
“Dialogues of Digital Girls” is the first collaborative exhibition by Kertu Rannula and Rebeca Žukovitš, exploring the digital body, self-image, and the perception of oneself as a whole.
The exhibition brings together sculpture, video, sound, and internet culture with slow, hands-on craft processes, connecting digital imagery with personal memory and childhood. The artists share a generational experience of growing up alongside internet culture, remembering a childhood before the internet while increasingly shaping their identities through digital environments.
The exhibition explores how our understanding of the body and the self changes when identity exists simultaneously in multiple forms, physical and digital, idealised and distorted, and is constantly being reimagined.
Kertu Rannula (1997) translates virtual experiences into physical materials to explore how reality is constructed. She studied photography at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Estonian Academy of Arts and furthered her studies in the Department of Fine Arts at the Iceland University of the Arts and in the Sculpture and Installation Department at PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Belgium. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
Rebeca Žukovitš (1999) is deeply rooted in digital thinking, yet constantly drawn towards making something slow and tangible. She studied audiovisual composition at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and Media Art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent. In autumn 2026, she will begin her Master’s studies in Religious Studies and Theology at the University of Tartu.
