Introduction

On Wednesday, January 14 at 5.30 PM a painting exhibition by Elisa Ritsing titled “COVERED” will open at Pärnu Artists’ House project space. You are welcome to attend!

The exhibition talks about the natural human desire to hide our negative emotions. The paintings describe feelings such as sadness, anger, fear and insecurity, which we often hide under a beautiful surface (veil) when we are around other people. These unwanted feelings make us appear vulnerable to the world. However, for the general public, the world and life in it are built on positivity, success, smiles and lightness. This world seems to have no room for our negative emotions, to show them. At such moments, we cover ourselves and our feelings with a protective veil, which still allows us to appear as part of the accepted social norm.

Elisa Ritsing (born 1986, Tallinn) is a freelance multidisciplinary artist who creates through painting and dancing. In her works, she mainly focuses on two themes: femininity in its various forms; the subconscious and the resulting unconscious thought and behavior patterns. Ritsing's works have participated in multiple exhibitions in Estonia: at the Pärnu Museum of New Art, ArtDepoo Gallery, Design and Architecture Gallery, the MA EI SAA ARU art festival and elsewhere.
