Group exhibition "Robot Leo"
Introduction
At the heart of the exhibition is the robo-biographical animated film Robot Leo.
The gallery presents the life story of Leo – from his early youth depicted on book pages to his active robot adolescence on the film screen.
Robot Leo is a bachelor who lives with a cat in a small rusty house in the middle of the robot world.
He has everything he needs — until one day, when a special guest named Lilleliisu is coming over. Suddenly, it’s time to prepare… and that means setting the table!
In the book, Leo easily finds the right table and tablecloth with the help of a little reader. But in the film, Leo must confront growing anxiety as his guest’s arrival draws near.
At first, choosing the right-shaped table and properly patterned tablecloth, dishes, and other items feels overwhelming — yet, without spoiling too much, we can say that he ultimately succeeds with flying colors.
The animated story gives viewers a sense of how stressful preparing for guests can be — and how, out of the chaos that builds up along the way, order is eventually born.
The layered exhibition features characters from the cut-out animation Robot Leo presented in lightboxes depicting the robot world, along with fragments from the film and its sets.
Separate displays include illustrations from the book “Robot Leo’s Special Day” and a room full of colourfol dots & spots.
Visitors can explore the behind-the-scenes process of how the animation was made — and during the school break, kids can join a hands-on workshop.
