Vaughan Williams. "A Sea Symphony"

Ralph Vaughan Williams stepped onto the podium in Leeds on October 12, 1910, his 38th birthday, to conduct the premiere of "A Sea Symphony" with the Leeds Festival Chorus and Orchestra. Composing this piece was a journey of self-discovery for the then-young composer, culminating in this unique and epic choral symphony. This significant work by Vaughan Williams has never before been performed in Estonia.

The concert also presents a jewel of 20th-century British music, Edward Elgar's Violin Concerto. Thi

s piece demands exceptional skill from the soloist, requiring a reflective and lyrical dreaminess while expressing profound emotions.

We're excited to feature the Latvija mixed choir, a world-class ensemble, and the young, brilliant, and distinctive Ukrainian violinist Dmytro Udovychenko, winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition.
