Stories from Childhood. Arvo Pärt's Children's Songs

Estonian Radio Children's Singing Studio

Conductor Kadri Hunt

Arvo Pärt's children's songs, composed between 1956 and 1970, were originally composed for plays and animated films. These charming pieces were first collected on the 2015 CD album, "Stories from Childhood," a project initiated by singer and conductor Kadri Hunt, in

partnership with the Arvo Pärt Centre and Estonian Public Broadcasting. In 2022, the collection was also released on vinyl.

Now, to celebrate the composer's anniversary, the same performance group presents "Stories from Childhood" to a new audience.

The production of this album highlighted how Arvo Pärt's melodies have become core childhood memories for several generations. Featured in theatrical productions, animated films, and educational songbooks, these tunes resonate with young singers today and evoke a unique sense of nostalgia for their parents and grandparents alike.
